Mid-December 2006 over 200 spectators watched a unique, fascinating black-and-white documentary about the closing of the dike that was built to separate the sea from the new land. The film was projected on that dike, at the very spot where it was closed on December 13, 1940. In 1940 it was very cold, and a storm was approaching the area.
To get to this desolate place in the middle of nowhere, the public had to undertake a midwinter walk, guided by hundreds of little lights. Afterwards they were offered soup and hot drinks to warm up again. Like in December 1940, the weather was tempestuous.
